Mission Impossible Review
The tale by Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen is excellent. The screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen does the story complete justice. The stakes have been dramatically raised. This time, the 'impossible job' is in fact incredibly difficult and dangerous due to both the complexity of the 'entity' and the opponents there. Audiences will thus experience suspense from beginning to end. The dialogues are a great addition to the proceedings.
The direction by Christopher McQuarrie is fantastic. He has made every effort, together with his staff, to make the movie a fantastic cinematic experience. This is demonstrated by the fact that every action scene is incredibly compelling and unique compared to other Hollywood action movies. The movie's technological wonders and difficulties will likewise wow spectators in some cases. Though it occasionally drags, the 163-minute movie never becomes dull. There is enough action that one doesn't mind some of the sequences being prolonged out. In fact, viewers should beware of the climax since it will totally astound them.
On the other hand, the movie does get a little bit muddled at times. It could be challenging to maintain track of the keys in some locations due to the frequent handoffs. The impact of a couple sequences in the middle of the second half isn't what it should be.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE starts off with a bang. The scene in the Arabian desert is passable but not particularly noteworthy. The subsequent meeting sequence seems a little dull at first, but it concludes in the most unexpected way. After over 25 minutes, the opening credits are displayed. The scene at the airport is amazing. Ethan and his crew face danger on two fronts, which adds to the chaos. The Venice chase segment features a tonne of hilarity in addition to some fantastic action and pursuit moments. It will undoubtedly wreck the house. The action scene following the gala is fine post-intermission. However, the finest is saved for last. View it to believe it! The second installment will be available very soon, according to the film's ending promise.
Speaking of performances, Tom Cruise, as expected, gives a stunning performance. It’s awe-inspiring to see him perform action stunts flawlessly at this age. The scene where he jumps off the bike from a cliff will induce claps and whistles from the audience. He also deserves kudos because as a producer, he has made every effort to ensure that the film is mounted on the grandest scale possible. Simon Pegg is dependable and is at his best in the airport scene. Ving Rhames is lovely, though he has limited screen time. Hayley Atwell gets to play a crucial character and she pulls it off nicely. Rebecca Ferguson is decent in a supporting part. Esai Morales is fair as the villain. Vanessa Kirby (White Widow), Henry Czerny (Eugene Kittridge), Pom Klementieff (Gabriel's assassin Paris) and Shea Whigham (Jasper Briggs) provide able support.
Lorne Balfe's music adds to the exhilaration. The theme song is very much present and it is sure to get viewers excited. Fraser Taggart's cinematography is a bit shaky and that works big time in action scenes. It is quite scenic in the train sequence. Gary Freeman's production design is rich. Jill Taylor's costumes are appropriate. The action is one of the USPs of the film. Interestingly, there’s very little bloodshed and hence, it’ll appeal to the families. The VFX matches global standards. Eddie Hamilton's editing is neat but could have been sharper.
On the whole, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE is a paisa vasool entertainer. The popularity of the franchise, tremendous hype, non-stop entertainment and the excitement and curiosity to see a 60-year-old Tom Cruise performing action will surely pull the audiences to cinemas in hordes. As a result, it can emerge as the film MISSION IMPOSSIBLE film to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark.
